What You May Have Heard, And An Actual “Notice of Layoff”

On 3/21/11 – your Chapter received preliminary notification that the District has slated several classified positions for layoff in the 2011/2012 school year. Your Chapter understood the list of positions was a preliminary list – not a final list. We understand that District managers have begun to communicate these preliminary layoff decisions to unit members. 

While the decision to layoff employees rests with the District, the District must negotiate with CSEA the impact of the layoffs on unit members.  Any unit members whose position will be eliminated by the District through layoff shall be notified by the District a minimum of 45 days prior to when the layoff will occur.
