A Day Of Solidarity With Embattled Workers

Stand in Solidarity
Monday, April 4, 2011

We Are One. We stand as nurses, school employees, firefighters, religious leaders, union members and advocates for the disabled. Across our country, on April 4, we’re standing together for the right of all American workers to seek a middle-class life for our families, to have a voice in the political process and to enjoy the respect that all people deserve. Today, that same demand is electrifying people across America. It’s the demand of all people regardless of race, creed or color: the right to join together for our common dreams.

On April 4, 1968, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated in Memphis, where he had gone to stand with sanitation workers demanding their dream: The right to bargain collectively for a voice at work and a better life.

Join us on April 4, 2011 as we stand in solidarity with working people in Wisconsin, Ohio, Indiana and dozens of other states where well-funded, right-wing corporate politicians are trying to take away the rights Dr. King gave his life for.

The attack on middle-class families in state after state after state proves that this isn’t about the economy, a state budget or helping business thrive. It’s all about politics and payback. It’s a payback to corporate CEOs, who want to weaken the voice of millions of middle-class workers and our jobless neighbors.

It’s time to show we are part of a movement!

We are asking all our members to wear your CSEA Blue shirts to work (if possible) and to your local event (see the link below for statewide locations) on April 4th as a show of solidarity for collective bargaining rights for public employees across the nation.

CSEA stands in solidarity with all working families across the country to support middle-class working family values.  We oppose the recent attacks on public employees such as teachers, nurses, firefighters, school workers and other public employees providing necessary services.

If you can’t attend an event, you can still show your support by contacting your Labor Relations Representative (LRR) for our event lapel sticker. Wear it with pride on April 4th.
