CSEA Chapter 293 Scholarship For 2015


Applications are being accepted thru April 25, 2015. Scholarships will be awarded at the June 8th Chapter meeting. Winners need not be present.

TWO – $500.00 Scholarships are being offered by CSEA Chapter 293 to Chapter Members and their children.

Applications may also be picked up at any of the PYLUSD high school counseling offices.

Scholarships will be awarded based on the following criteria:

♦ Grade Point Average ♦ Community Service 
♦ School Involvement ♦  Transcripts
♦ Letters of Recommendation ♦ Employment
♦ Completed Courses ♦ Leadership

To be eligible to receive a scholarship the applicant must be:

♦ Current Chapter 293 Member or the child of a current Member (verification of relationship may be required)
♦Graduating High School Senior, or a student at an accredited college, university, vocational, technical or trade school
♦Have a GPA of 2.5 or higher
♦Register for the fall term 2015

Submit completed application with the following attachments:

♦ High school or college signed original transcript
 ♦Two (2) letters of recommendation  –  Include date and contact information
___a. One letter from a teacher or counselor familiar with the applicant’s academic performance
___b.   One letter from a community member, not related to applicant, who is familiar with applicant’s
_____character outside school setting

CSEA will be offering the M&O Academy!

We are pleased to announce that CSEA
will once again be offering
the Maintenance & Operations Academy

Saturday and Sunday, March 14-15

9:00 am – 5:00 pm on Saturday
8:00 am – 1:00 pm on Sunday

The Cal / OSHA 10 class will begin promptly at 12:00 pm and conclude at 5:00 pm on Saturday and will continue on Sunday at 8:00 a.m, and end at 1:00 pm. You will need to attend all 10 hours of the Cal / OSHA training (5 hours on Saturday and 5 hours on Sunday) to receive your Cal / OSHA 10 certification.

Instructor verification of attendance (completion) will be submitted to Cal / OSHA immediately following the training. Please allow three weeks for the certificate of completion to be mailed directly to you.

The $25 registration fee will include lunch for both days. Transportation and housing are not included in the registration fee and will be at the expense of the participant.

In addition to the Cal/OSHA 10 classes in the afternoon, additional classes of general interest will be available on Saturday morning.

Topics will include:
• Heat Illness Prevention
• Disaster Preparedness
• The Williams Act…and more

These general classes are optional and will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday morning.

Return the your Registration Form with your $25 per person payment ASAP and no later than February 13th. Your registration confirmation will be sent by February 20th.

Reimbursement Subsidy: Let CSEA help defer the cost of attending the academy. CSEA offers subsidies ( funds are limited ) to financially assist members with opportunities that connect them to the union, community, and / or students.
